Leon has broad banking and IT experience, spending more than 30 years with leading banks in South Africa and the United Kingdom. In 2002 he received the CIO of the Year Award from the Computer Society of South Africa. He played an instrumental role in the formation of Absa in the early 1990's, where systems and technologies had to be rationalised across the United Group, Allied Group, Volkskas Group and Bankorp Group. Leon was also intimately involved in the Barclays/Absa integration and spent nine years as a Group Executive at the Absa Group. He holds a Masters of Commerce degree (Cum laude) from the University of Johannesburg.
