About Manong Youth Developers (MYD)
MYD is a Limpopo-based non-profit organization (NPO/ NGO), founded in August 2007, whose aim is as the name indicates, to help develop young people in our rural communities through education, information and life skills; all of which will help enrich their lives and inspire them to realize and maximize their potential, so they can soar together as future leaders, economic role players and community developers who are progressively working to improve the living conditions of their people. MYD was founded by, consists of, and is managed by a group young people (students and young professionals) from the Ga- Rakgoadi region of the Limpopo province. Our services are currently directed at our own rural communities from this region.
Problem statement
Most rural areas in South Africa are plagued by a lack of further education. Many children in these areas still believe that merely completing a Senior Certificate is adequate and sufficient schooling they will ever required in life. As a result, most of them do not work hard enough or their best foot forward when attempting to complete this "final step" (Matric). This trend in turn affect our Country in numerous ways which include; a clear deficiency in skilled/qualified young professionals, high unemployment rate, high crime rate, poverty and many other factors.

Mission
The purpose of Manong Youth Developers is as the name indicates, to be instrumental in aiding to develop young people in our rural communities through education, information and life skills. The rationale behind this is to enrich young lives, and inspire them to realize and maximize their potential so we can soar together as future leaders, economic role players and community developers, working to improve the living conditions of our people. This will be achieved through the MYD Services that include:
Organizing and hosting career workshops Establishing and running tutoring programs Helping to address the learners' concerns, academic or otherwise Mentoring, supporting and coaching high school learners Grooming initiatives to promote effectiveness in schooling and lifestyle
